Collapse ▲In late January, we held our first meeting of 2024, introducing our new board, learning about the work of Extension Organizational Development, and catching up with colleagues and news across the cooperative extension system. Our new President and Chairperson, Patrice Dollar, welcomed our new leadership. You can learn more about our Board of Directors and Executive Committee here (NCACES Board of Directors).
The bulk of the meeting included a presentation from Extension Organizational Development (EOD) with Dave Herpy (Contact Info) and Eleanor Baker (Contact Info) telling us about their units accomplishments in the past year and their goal for the future (EOD). In 2023, EOD coordinated and planned major training and events across the state, including five extension district meetings, an early career conference for county personnel in Raleigh, and training for new county extension directors. They created a mentoring program for extension and an onboarding program communicating with supervisors of county employees to ensure they were aware of this opportunity.
EOD kicked off 2024 with as much energy as 2023, hosting a campus extension faculty/staff meeting. In the future, they are hoping to continue to hear feedback and continue the onboarding and mentoring program, early career conference, and extension district meetings alternating with state extension conference years. They are also developing an annual County Extension Director training and are in the early stages of developing a campus onboarding program (EOD Onboarding Program).
They will continue this work while also hosting regular virtual trainings (EOD Calendar of Virtual Trainings). Our next meeting will be May 10 at the NC State Beef Unit, 4505 Mid Pines Rd, Raleigh, and will be our awards meeting. Awards announcements will be released soon so keep your eyes out for them.
